Description

A dhow was reportedly boarded and possibly hijacked by an armed piracy group while transiting to Kismayo, Somalia. The incident occurred off the southern Somali coast near position 00°13'S 044°18'E on 09 May 2026. The vessel was reportedly taken over by the armed group during the boarding operation. The incident is currently under investigation in coordination with maritime security authorities and regional partners. Vessels operating in the area are strongly advised to maintain heightened vigilance, particularly within 150NM off the Somali coast between Mogadishu and Hafun, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
